Healthy food ideas for children between One year and above

You can save yourself a huge stress of watching your baby sick by taking charge of their meal consumption. A healthy child is the child that eats healthy meals.  Below are samples of healthy nutritious and delicious meal you could make for your baby to help them live healthy and happy.

Different Meal Time

Breakfast:

  • Boiled, poached or scrambled egg with toast
  • Cereal such as All Bran or Weetbix with pieces of fruit or yoghurt added
  • Jungle Oats with honey or mashed banana and yogurt
  • Toast with marmite or cheese
  • Fruit salad and bran muffin

Lunch:

  • Baked beans on whole-wheat toast
  • Cheese and tomato sandwich on whole-wheat bread
  • Chicken or tuna mayonnaise sandwich on whole-wheat bread
  • Sausage or other cold meats and salad (tomatoes, cucumber and carrots)
  • Fruit Salad and yoghurt
  • Baked potato with a filling such as tuna and cottage cheese, avocado and cottage cheese, mince and vegetables

Dinner:

  • Cottage Pie – mix veggies in with the mince for a healthy yummy meal!
  • Fish pieces, mashed sweet potato and peas
  • Chicken stew with rice and veggies
  • Sausage, mashed potato and mixed veggies
  • Macaroni Cheese with salad
  • Spaghetti bolognaise
  • Soup and brown bread rolls
  • Stir Fry and brown rice

Snacks:

  • Yoghurt
  • Fresh Fruit or dried fruit
  • Nuts and raisins
  • Provita with marmite
  • Chopped tomatoes with chunks of cheese
  • Biltong
  • Rice cakes with cheese
  • Fruit smoothie
